A digital social gaming app  nurses to share messages of recognition to nurture their sense of belonging could improve workforce retention, engagement and leverage their most valued attributes and skills for care delivery, according to a study. Published in the July/August issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration, the study analyzed the app鈥檚 use among 15,000 caregivers across 120 U.S. health care facilities for 12 months. Facilities observed increases of 5% to 13% in their employee engagement scores regarding a caregiver鈥檚 likelihood to recommend working at the facility. Scores for teamwork and overall likelihood to recommend the hospital in patient experience surveys increased up to 6%. In addition, 85% of caregivers who downloaded the app still used it one year later.
