Since HCA Healthcare a majority stake in Galen College of Nursing in 2020, HCA has increased Galen’s number of campuses from a handful to nearly 20 throughout the U.S. The Nashville-based health system has prioritized placing Galen’s campuses in HCA’s markets to create a steady supply of nurses, enabling HCA to recruit nursing students early. The students also acquire hands-on experience at HCA’s hospitals, making them better prepared when they begin working at HCA. The health system believes Galen’s master’s degree in nurse leadership will help it to fill leadership roles. With 12,000 students, Galen is one of the nation’s largest private nursing schools.
