Hospital lowers nurse turnover

兔子先生member and El Camino CNO Cheryl Reinking, DNP, RN,  her system has relied on several strategies to return turnover rates to 5% after they climbed to 12.7% during the pandemic. The Mountain View, Calif.-based health system implemented recognition programs, including thanking nurses for working extra shifts. Because Gen Z nurses were particularly interested in advancement opportunities, El Camino built professional career development plans for nurses to advance while remaining at the health system. El Camino also hired a social worker trained in mental health support to counsel nurses experiencing burnout. To reduce workplace violence, the system established a team of mental health professionals to speak with patients who escalate and address their unmet needs. (HealthLeaders Media , 4/28/25)
