Measles cases near 30-year high
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has 1,168 confirmed measles cases across 33 states as of June 6. The figure is more than four times higher than the 285 cases reported in 2024. The CDC said that among the nationally confirmed cases, 95% are among people who are unvaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown. The number of measles cases is to a 30-year high. If cases continue until January 2026, the U.S. will lose its designation of measles being an eliminated disease. The designation requires 12 months with no local disease transmission.
