The Institute for Healthcare Improvement  a framework to standardize data collection of workplace violence incidents in health care, including critical data elements necessary to analyze incidents effectively. The IHI maintains the  will enable health care leaders to understand better the effect of prevention efforts and improve learning across the health care field. It also will provide hospitals and health systems with a tool to improve their ability to predict, prevent and analyze workforce violence incidents within their own settings. The framework includes data definitions, data collection considerations and practice examples for visualizing data.
