Middle managers key to nurse retention

Hospitals could  up to $700 million annually and improve care by decreasing front-line nurse turnover through strengthened manager support, a  from McKinsey & Company found. Although the report finds fewer nurses are considering leaving their jobs compared with previous surveys, it finds of the 20% of front-line nurses who say they are considering leaving, 41% cite insufficient support from leadership as their top reason. Effective middle managers can offer strategies to increase job satisfaction, influence team culture, manage productivity and maintain care quality.
